Snack Bites: with LilPinkiesUp

What is something special unique about LilPinkiesUp?

The food! In my kitchen, we are consistently expanding the minds of what kids can eat, and you would be happily surprised to see what kids will explore when given the opportunity to think beyond nuggets and fries! Your child may make fried rice with caramelized kimchi, or vegan double chocolate avocado cupcake in my classes!

Season 2, Episode 1: Creating Better Family Mealtimes

Parents often ask Natalie Muth, MD, what the best thing is they can do for their child. As a pediatrician and dietitian, she says: eating family meals together. Dr. Muth is the author of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ book Family Fit Plan: A 30-day Wellness Transformation. She shares her thoughts on how we can make home cooking easier and healthier for our families. Then we’re joined by Allison Rinehart, a cooking instructor who helps parents expand the horizons of picky eaters for less stressful mealtimes. She’s sharing her creative approaches to those things kids love to hate — veggies!

Season 2, Episode 5: Getting Kids to Try New Foods

Easy Earth Day Sugar Cookies

Easier than you think, Earth Day Cookies, Lil’ Pinkies Up Promise! Hi I’m Allison from Lil Pinkies Up, and under normal circumstances, I help families enjoy “cooking beyond nuggets” at home and in my cooking classes as well as in-home picky eating consulting. But these days, it’s all about simplicity, and if you can get your hands on a tube of pre-made sugar cookie dough and forge for some old food coloring, you can make these SUPER simple and SUPER fun treats to celebrate mother earth…

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice: Kid’s Cooking Class with Lil’ Pinkies Up

“Food is my love language and fostering polite, inquisitive eaters is my passion!

By focusing on making food fun, and fostering an inclusive process that includes their opinions, a foundation of mutual respect is formed where kids can naturally expand their palates without pressure.

From where I started as a new stepmom a few years ago with skeptical, picky, anxious eaters (often eating just French fries as their dinner) I am proud to say they can now sit down at our family dinner table and enjoy a bowl of yellow curry, chicken marsala, and roasted cauliflower alike.  With some patience and effort, I believe any child can go from Picky to Persuadable.”

Meet Allison

Meet Allison, the Newport Beach mom who started her own cooking school and consulting business to help kiddos “eat beyond nuggets”.

Where are you from originally?

I’m from Mission Viejo, and most of my extended family is still in Orange County! Yay for free babysitting!

How long have you lived in Newport Beach? How many kids do you have and what are their ages?

I’ve been in Newport Beach since I met my now-husband, Joe, when we blended our family back in 2016. We have three children between us, but not one together (well, only if you count Captain Baby Pickles, our three-legged rescue wonder pup). Avery is 10, Graham is 8, and Charlotte is 5 going on 15. Please pray for me!
